A little while ago I participated in a stampers' challenge for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft. I received a beautiful set of Lil'inkers Designs feather stamps in the mail and got to work creating two cards for the challenge. This is one of them. I used the largest feathers in the set to make my background, stamping them in metallic inks on a neutral cream cardstock. I then added a second layer of feathers that I fussy-cut and attached to the card with mounting foam. The whole look is clean and simple with just washi tape and a few sequins to finish. Stay tuned for the second card, coming soon!
It's Mother's Day on Sunday - have you made your cards yet? Here's a card I made for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft. The star of the show is clearly the vintage playing card. Isn't it beautiful?! You can find gems like these in antique stores, markets, or even online. The colour scheme I chose - green and blue - was entirely inspired by the pretty aqua of the playing card. For contrast I used gold, chocolate brown and cream, and textural elements like multi-layered flowers and pearls.
HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY!

Well, not quite here in Australia! We're heading into winter but I loved the idea of pink hearts, birds and flowers for a card I made for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft's vellum challenge. I used the vellum in two ways - as an overlay background and for a ruffled detail at the bottom of the card. Vellum can be tricky to work with. It doesn't like heat and humidity, and regular double-sided tape has an annoying habit of showing through. Here I used a special vellum adhesive tape that worked a treat, as well as a few staples for added strength and interest.
