Let's Ride!

This is the second card I made  for the Darkroom Door stampers' challenge as seen in Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft last month. This is the boy version of the card below: darker colours and no frills! I used one of my favourite stamping techniques - faux watercolour - to stamp a trio of bikes in green, orange and purple. I stamped one of the wheels a second time on a piece of scrap card, cut it out, and stamped the sentiment using black ink. I then attached it to the original with mounting foam. The embellishments I chose are quite simple and to the point - ribbon, numbers, and a few rhinestones. All-in-all, a pretty cool boys card, I think :-)

Stamps - Darkroom Door
Ink - Distress peeled paint, Distress spiced marmalade, Distress dusty concord, Brilliance graphite black
Embellishments - Collections rusty number tiles, Kaisercraft rhinestones, ribbon
Other - water mister bottle

Live Simply

The April issue of Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft featured a Darkroom Door stampers' challenge using a set of bicycle themed stamps. I was fortunate to take part and this is one of the cards I made for the challenge. It's a very girly creation - perfect for young girls or teenagers. I chose a combination of pastels and white, then added bunting, flowers, hearts and pearls. My favourite detail is the seed beads on the wheel spokes - so pretty and whimsical.

Stay tuned for my second card featuring this stamp set, or - as I call it - the boy version!

Stamps - Darkroom Door
Ink - Brilliance pearlescent orchid, Brilliance graphite black
Embellishments - Prima flowers, Kaisercraft pearls, Typo tape, ribbon, seed beads
Other - white paint pen

Sew Thankful

It's Mother's Day tomorrow! Have you made your cards? Here's a quick idea if your mother/grandmother/ mother-in-law loves to sew. I took a break from the usual patterned paper background - choosing instead a very pretty piece of floral fabric which I cut slightly larger than I needed, then frayed the edges - much more in keeping with the sewing theme. The vintage sewing machine is stamped faux watercolour style on ink-stained white card and embellished with wooden buttons, while a cute play-on-words sentiment finishes the design.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Stamp - Darkroom Door
Ink - Distress vintage photo, Distress walnut stain
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - Darkroom Door alphastrips, button, ribbon
Other - fabric

Hats

This is the second batch of cards I made for my friend's birthday a couple of weeks ago. Words can't express how thrilled I am with how these little cards turned out. Just looking at the photos makes me
happy :-) I used lots of odds and ends to make these cards, starting with scraps of patterned paper too small to use on a regular-size card but too lovely to throw away. I raided my ribbon and sticker stash, as well as my collection of rhinestones - which are just about overflowing their large storage container!

Enjoy the weekend, wherever you are :-)

Paper - assorted
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - Darkroom Door photobooth hats, Darkroom Door wordstips, Typo tape, Kaisercraft rhinestones, ribbon, stickers
