Christmas Windows

For me, vintage and Christmas go hand-in-hand, and I couldn't resist making a vintage themed Christmas card this year. In fact, I made two! So without further ado, here are the cards I made for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft's Christmas issue. The centrepiece is the Darkroom Door window frame stamp. It's such a versatile image, I love it! The rest is all window dressing (pun intended!) - layers of pretty vintage papers, ribbon, sequins and washi tape. The vintage look is really quite easy to achieve, and so much fun :-)

Stamp - Darkroom Door
Ink - Brilliance galaxy gold
Paper - Graphic 45
Card - Bazzill; white, cream
Embellishments - Darkroom Door Dear Santa montage, Darkroom Door Dear Santa wordstrips, Kasiercraft rhinestones, Typo washi tape, sequins, ribbon, cord string
Other - Carl snowflake punch, craft knife

It's that time of year again! Christmas is fast approaching and there are so many cards to be made. Here's an idea for a simple and advanced version of the same card - as seen in the November issue of Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft. The simple version is exactly that - super simple to make in bulk. The advanced version is a bit more labour intensive but ideal for special friends and family. Enjoy!

Paper - Doodlebug Design
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - Darkroom Door yuletide photochips, Darkroom Door yuletide montage, Darkroom Door green alphastrips, Kaisercraft rhinestones, Typo washi tape, ribbon, sequins
Other - Paper Shapers tree punch

10 Quick Cards

Here's a little project I did for Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft a couple of months ago - it was for the 10 Quick Cards feature. I don't know about you, but I struggle with kids cards, so it's kind of cool to have ten cards made and ready to go (although I don't see why you couldn't use them for adults too!). I used the fun Darkroom Door Robots collection as well as a few odds and ends like ribbon, rhinestones and regular silver washers from the hardware store. Give this idea a go and stock up on your 2015 cards :-)

Paper - My Mind's Eye
Card - white
Embellishments - Darkroom Door Robot photochips, Darkroom Door Robot filmstrips, Darkroom Door Robot wordstrips, Darkroom Door Robot montage, Kaisercraft rhinestones, ribbon, brads, washers

No Greater Gift

I had such fun making this card for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft. I mean, how glamorous are these ladies in their retro 1940s fashions? Love it! So, I wanted to do justice to the clothes and I didn't think watercolouring would work (although I did use my watercolour pencils on the accessories). Ultimately, I decided to raid my box of patterned paper off-cuts. I set aside the prettiest designs I cold find, stamped the ladies on the paper, and cut out the dresses. Granted, the intricate fussy-cutting was a little labour intensive, but I think the end result was well worth it. Tres chic!

Stamps - Darkroom Door
Ink - StazOn timber brown
Paper - Prima, assorted off-cuts
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - buttons, ribbon
Other - watercolour pencils

This card is winging its way to a friend in America. It's her birthday, and she's fascinated with anything and everything to do with this strange land we call Australia :-) So I made her a card with the iconic harbour bridge - stamped on kraft paper - and assorted Sydney postage marks. As much as I love my embellishments, I had to keep them to a minimum this time - not only do they add to the weight of a card, they just don't travel well in the mail. So, in the interest of keeping it simple, I applied glitter to a yellow silk flower for a pop of colour, and added a simple ribbon bow. Done!

Stamps - Darkroom Door
Ink - Versa Magic Aegean blue, Versa Magic sage, Versa Magic sea breeze, Versa Magic midnight black
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - Heidi Swapp silk flower, ribbon, glitter
Other - stapler and staples

Le Cirque

I mentioned in a previous post that there are stamps in my collection I could never part with. No. Matter. What. These Zettiology alphabet stamps are among them. I bought them on eBay a few years ago and although I haven't used them much, I love them to bits. They're so fun and quirky! I made this card for a circus theme challenge in Somerset Studio. Inspiration struck, and I excavated the Zettiology stamps from my stash and inked them up, some for the first time. But hopefully not the last :-)

Stamps - Zettiology
Ink - Brilliance graphite black
Paper - Kasiercraft, Sullivans, assorted
Embellishments - Typo washi tape, rhinestone stars, ticket stubs

Father's Day is here and I'm late posting my card! If you caught the August issue of Cardmkaing, Stamping & Papercraft you might have seen it in the Father's Day card gallery. If not, here it is, better late than never :-) I wanted to create something really different this year - think vintage industrial collage. I started with a piece of thick core board that I covered with strips of mesh, then aluminium tape. I punched in a some rivets and then coated the whole thing with black paint, wiping off the excess with a damp cloth. The next stage was building the collage - super easy with a Darkroom Door photobooth image - and I made the banner out of scraps of paper and card, confetti stars, and alphabet stickers.

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your next man card!

Paper - assorted off-cuts
Card - Bazzill, core board
Embellishments - Darkroom Door photobooth hats, Kaisercraft rhinestones, Pebbles Inc. alphabet stickers, confetti stars, ribbon, mesh, wire
Other - black acrylic paint, paint brush, sponge, sandpaper, hole punch, eyelet setter, verdigris embossing powder
