Old New York

I'm very fortunate to have two projects in Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft this month! First up is a set of New York-themed cards. I used gorgeous Darkroom Door stamps and paper products to make this group. I started with a masterboard - that is, I stamped all the images from the set on a 12 x 12 sheet of kraft card, sponged the card with Distress ink and sprayed it with water, then set it aside to dry. The masterboard tore into six good size pieces, two of which I set aside for a rainy day :-) Next I burnt and distressed the New York photochips, made little street signs out of cocktail picks, and stamped my timber hearts and stars. So, what do think? Fancy a stroll down the streets of old New York?

Stamps - Darkroom Door DDRS093 New York Vol.1 stamp set

Paper - Kaisercraft
Card - Core'dinations, kraft

DARKROOM DOOR Pressed Flowers

Have you checked out the new Pressed Flowers collage stamp from Darkroom Door. Isn't it great?! I've made two projects with this stamp - a pair of gift boxes and a sympathy card. To save a little work (and frustration!) I used matchboxes, which are the perfect size for small gifts like jewellery. They're super easy to make and really look the part.

The sympathy card is an idea that came to me as soon as I saw the stamp; the flowers just seemed to suit the theme. It's hard to know how far to take a sympathy design, so I kept it simple with ribbon and a couple of postage stamps.

I hope these projects inspire a few of your own ;-)

DARKROOM DOOR Shadow 3 Up

I had a lot of fun making these samples with the new Darkroom Door shadow frame stamp! My first idea involved stamping the frame with blue ink, then over-stamping it with white and silver to create a background suitable for my little robots. My second project is a pair of abstract tags. Here I got a bit messy, drenching the stamp with ink and water to create a confetti-like frame which I then stamped with cute sentiments like 'fun' and 'smile'. I hope these cards give you some ideas for this very versatile stamp :-)
