Wonder and Wishes

It's high time I shared this set of Christmas cards as seen in last month's Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft. When I sat down to make these cards I had a specific idea in mind: simple, clean, cheerful. I have a bit of thing for paper flowers and bunting at the moment, so of course they had to make an appearance, as well as some old favourites, ribbon and buttons. Oh and my trusty Dymo label maker came in handy for the sentiments (I trimmed the ends for a little extra interest). How are your Christmas cards coming along? I am DONE! It's the fun part now - wrapping!

Paper - Little Yellow Bicycle
Card - Bazzill
Embellishments - buttons, ribbon
Other - Dymo label maker and red tape, embroidery thread, sewing needle, paper piercer

Happy Holidays

Here's an idea for all those left-over scraps of Christmas papers you can't bear to throw away because they *might* be useful one day - tags! I can't go past making tags for Christmas. They look wonderful tied to gifts, are super cost-effective, and they're quick to make once you've come up with a design. I spent a couple of days this month making a large batch of these over-sized tags to attach to my family and friends presents. I built up layers of torn paper - a vibrant orange mulberry, assorted Christmas patterns left-over from old projects, and a recycled brown paper gift bag. I tore all of the edges for a rustic look, which I love, and finished them off with ribbon, glitter and decorative tape. Fun and easy :-)

Paper - assorted Christmas patterns, orange mulberry, kraft
Embellishments - Typo blue gingham tape, Collections small circles, ribbon
Other - hole punch, gold glitter glue

Merry Little Christmas

One of the design challenges in the October issue of Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft was a Christmas sketch. When I look at a sketch I almost always start by choosing a patterned paper and then planning my card from there. I found a pretty piece of double-sided Bo Bunny paper at my LSS which was my inspiration for this card (also, I like double-sided papers because they're excellent value for money!). The turtle doves from the "wrong" side of the paper were so sweet I couldn't not use them, and they fulfill an important design feature: the horizontal line along the bottom of the card. From there the other elements sort of fell into place - the collage image centrepiece, the ribbon bow and the three-word sentiment.

Check back soon for more Christmas cards, tags and ornaments. I have so much to share!

Gems and Bows

A couple of cards before I get stuck into blogging some Christmas designs later this week. I know, I know I've used these stamps *a lot* but how can I resist them? They're beautiful! I actually keep these stamps and the others in the set, along with my Acey Deucy collection, on the shelves above my desk. They're much too nice to hide away in a drawer somewhere :-)

Ink - Brilliance graphite black, Versamark
