You may remember I collaged some old family photos for Mother's Day - Ida and Audrey. Well, they went down so well that Mum told me I could give the same treatment to all the ancestors, LOL. This is my great-great-great grandmother, Isabella. I started by applying Jo Sonja texture paste to a 6"x4" canvas panel and then painting over the top with acrylic paints. Next, I printed the photo on gloss photographic paper and tore the edges to create an oval shape. Lots and lots of ink and sponging later, the photo was appropriately distressed and I stuck it the canvas with stong glue. Next is the best bit - embellishments! I used paper flowers, an old button, Nostalgiques alphabet sticker, Making Memories safety pin, broken bits of chain from old jewellery, lace, vintage silk ribbon, mesh, Catslife Press bird stamp, and beeswax. I'm working on the companion piece now, and will update the blog when it's finished.

Here's another Daisy D's piece. This time I've cut one of the larger butterfly wing stickers in half and made a tag. I've also used Collections clip art, a wall hanging gizmo, brad, some pretty ribbon, rhinestones, twill, and a Hero Arts stamp to give the background a bit of oomph!

Summer Days

I love this card, I think it's going to become one of my favs! The background is acrylic paint (credit-card technique), and the embellishments are Collections clip art, fly screen mesh, Carolees Creations alphabet stickers, Daisy D's cardstock butterfly wings stickers, and found gold-tone shells from a broken vintage bracelet. Wednesday Stamper - Open Theme

The new Wednesday Stamper challenge is an open theme. Awesome :-) I've been working on my family tree a lot lately, so I thought this altered cabinet card was an appropriate piece to post here :-) I started by painting the photograph with acrylic paints and then stamping Hero Arts stitched hearts randomly over the background. Then it was just a matter of adding a few odds and ends to finish the card.

Stamp - Hero Arts (stitched hearts)
Ink - StazOn jet black
Paper - K&Company
Embellishments - Collections rusty letter tiles, Cristina Re pearl brad, silk ribbon, metallic heart beads
Other - Plaid glass finish, Dymo label maker & tape, acrylic paint, paintbrush

Here are a few ATCs I've made using beautiful Catslife Press stamps. I made the backgrounds with the credit-card technique and then flicked a loaded calligraphy pen over the paper to form splashy droplets on the surface. I'm really into bright, vibrant colours at the moment, and this technique never fails to produce the look I'm after. Plus it's heaps of fun!

Stamps - Catslife Press (bird)
Ink - StazOn
Embellishments - Collections rusty letter tiles, glass leaf beads, stick from the garden
Other - acrylic paint, old credit card, water spray bottle

Do You Promise?

Here's a piece I've created for a wedding anniversary next week. This card combines clip art with a yummy Catslife Press text stamp. The background is a piece of vintage wallpaper and the embellishments are really quite simple, just a couple of Prima flowers, and a strip of antique-style braid. Easy-peasy!

Stamp - Catslife Press
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress
Paper/card - K&Company, vintage wallpaper
E,bellishments - silk flowers, mulberry paper flower, brads, braid
Other - clip art

I don't make many kid's cards. I'm just not good with cute designs. But I had a request today for a card for a 2 year old, and I couldn't say no! Here's what I came up with. I stamped the image on pre-stitched linen card, coloured it, and layered it another piece of stitched card. Then I added ribbons, rhinestones and a little Pebbles Inc. sticker to jazz it up. Stamp by Penny Black.
