Loved Being A Girl

This is an antique cabinet card I finished last night. After being dissatisfied with it for months and months and not knowing how to fix it, I ended up discarding some of the 'chunkier' embellishments and replacing them with a few 'softer' objects - some vintage ribbon, a metal rimmed tag and beeswax (of course!). Now I'm happy, lol.

Stamp - Making Memories (flourish)
Ink - Distress vintage photo
Embellishments - Prima flower, Collections rusty alphabet tiles, K&Company metal rimmed tag, old silver jewellery part, buttons, vintage rhinestone finding, silk ribbon, lace
Other - acrylic paint, beeswax, heat tool

Acey Deucy Sampler

Here's a fun way to use up some of your paper scraps. Just tear them into small pieces, ink the edges and collage them onto a pre-painted canvas panel. Splash on some twinkling H2Os and stamp a few of your favourite images on Distress-inked cream card. Embellish with lace, ribbon, flowers, buttons, mesh, found objects and beeswax. Viola!

Stamps - Acey Duecy
Ink - Distress, StazOn
Embellishments - Inspirables leather alphabet stickers, mulberry flowers, found key, buttons, pen nib, red heart brad, bingo number, glass leaf charm, lace, ribbon, black mesh
Other - LuminArte twinkling H2Os, canvas panel, acrylic paint, beeswax, heat tool, sandpaper

More backgrounds

I whipped up these background papers yesterday afternoon using an old favourite - the credit card technique. It's soooooo easy to create beautifully coloured papers in no time at all with just some paint, an old credit card and a water spritzer. Now all I have to do is stamp them and they're ready to make into cards. Fun!

The second canvas in my Ancestral Home series. As before, I've used a family photo as the focal point. This time it's my great-grandmother Audrey Jean. This picture was taken in the 1920s and I just love the flapper feel of it! I've embellished the canvas panel with beeswax, ribbons and lace, flowers, vintage key, black mesh and a few brads. I was trying to create a delicate, feminine feel, and I think the pink and green colour scheme contributes a lot to the tone.

Stamp - Making Memories
Ink - Distress, StazOn
Paper - old European book pages
Embellishments - Pebbles Inc. alphabet stickers, found key, brads, porcelaine flower, mulberry paper flower, ribbon, mesh, lace
Other - canvas panel, silver tack pins, acrylic paint, beeswax, heat tool, sandpaper

Well, here it is, the finished product! I'm giving it to my mum for Mother's Day. Lots of vintage lace and ribbons, mesh, beeswax, paint and ink, a Making Memories foam flourish stamp, an old key and broken piece of jewellery. The image is a portrait of my great-great-grandmother which I "antiqued" with sandpaper, oil pastels and inks. It took a good long while to get the photo looking this ancient! This canvas will be the first in my news series "Ancestral Home".

Card - black core board
Embellishments - Prima flowers, alphabet stickers, found key, old rhinestone jewellery part, silk ribbon, brads, mesh, lace
