Wednesday Stamper - Umbrella

The theme at Wednesday Stamper this week is umbrella, and not having an appropriate stamp, I decided to go with an Oriental design! I used a piece of gorgeous Yuzen paper for the background and embellished the card with ribbon, Collections words, a Chinese coin and a bright cocktail parasol. Stamp by Paper Artsy.

Posh

Here's a birthday card I made earlier this week. I've used some of my all-time favourite Hero Arts stamps! FYI - the images are stamped on cream card, coloured with good quality pencils, cut out with a circle punch and then glued to poker chips. The patterned paper is by K&Company and the alphabet stickers are Deluxe Designs. Finally, I added a few rhinestones for a bit of glitter!

Wednesday Stamper - Toys

The new Wednesday Stamper theme is toys, and not having any toy stamps, I had to improvise. Again, lol. I used a Collections shipping tag (obsessed with these!), Sandylion patterned paper, Blue Cardigan collage image, Tim Holtz Distressables toy blocks, a red bead, large copper eyelet, buttons and ribbon. Stamps by Laughing Moon and Collections.

Somerset Studio Gallery Winter 2008

Please bear with me while I do a big 'ol happy dance, LOL! I received my copy of the Winter 08 issue of Somerset Studio Gallery in the mail today, and there on the cover (top right-hand corner) was my "Bird Watching" card! The scans below are not great, they don't show the detail on the card, but I just had to share my good news (and excitement!) with you all. *Squeal*

Wednesday Stamper - Words

The new Wednesday Stamper theme is words, and I *really* enjoyed making this card! I started by stamping Inkadinkado Eiffel Tower on faux tile grout and then sealing the strips with Papier Glass Finish. I then layered the grout on 7gypsies text paper and yellow and grey card. The word 'Paris' is created with Pebbles Inc. alpha stickers, and 'travel' was stamped with Ma Vinci tiny alphabet stamps on a Collections baby tag. Other embellishments include orange ribbon, thin gold wire, a funky safety pin and beeswax.

Peace and Goodwill

Back to Christmas cards! This time I've used a Designs Galore collage image and Paper Artsy stamp from The Stamping Queen. The patterned paper is a double-sided design by Basic Grey, which I distressed with sandpaper and Distress ink before layering it on purple card. A strip of ribbon and lots of sparkly rhinestones finishes it off!

Wednesday Stamper - Diamonds

The theme at Wednesday Stamper this week is diamonds, and because I'm loving tags so much at the moment, I thought I'd stick with what's working for me :-) I covered a kraft shipping tag with black & white check card - cut and positioned so the squares look like diamonds. The Stamp-It image is impressed on heavy cotton paper and coloured with watercolour pencils. The "Hot Couture" label is from some perfume packaging and the diamond is a Making Memories crystal brad.

Pastel Christmas

Back to Christmas designs... and here is another card featuring the very versatile Crafty Individuals stamp from TSQ. This time I stamped each square on different coloured card and then mounted the tiles on chocolate, purple and yellow card. The little gold-tone and pearl bow is from a bit of broken jewellery. I've called this card "Pastel Christmas" but in truth the colours turned out a little brighter than I intended. Oh well, not to worry! LOL

Wednesday Stamper - Chairs

OK, this was *really* tough! The new Wednesday Stamper challenge is chairs, and not having any chair stamps, I used a Blue Cardigan collage image. I just cut it out and sanded the edges and made a little crown out of German Scrap and rhinestones. The tag is simple kraft card dry-brushed with red and bronze paints. Stamp by Stampers Anonymous.

Peace

I had a leftover Crafty Individuals image from the card below, so I turned it into a quick Christmas tag! Other materials include Catslife Press stamp, Dufex card and a kraft tag (all available from The Stamping Queen). From my stash I added the Bo-Bunny Press paper and red satin ribbon.

Santa Trio

I had a spare piece of leaf paper from the card below, so decided to turn it into a Christmas card using a gorgeous Crafty Individuals stamp from TSQ. I just stamped and watercoloured the images and layered them on green cardstock. The metallic ribbon is for a bit of Christmas bling!

Thoughts

Ever since Gillian used this stamp on one of her beautiful cards, I've been coveting this little bumblebee baby by Catslife Press. I started by stamping the image on watercolour paper and colouring it with watercolour pencils and adding highlights with copper microbeads. I then layered it on piece of hand-painted paper (stamps by Making Memories and Amazing Creations), Bo-Bunny Press paper, and red and black card. The big beaded embellishment is a broken clip-on earring from the 1950's, and the text is by Collections and Pebbles Inc.

Naughty or Nice

Another Christmas card! Instead of going the traditional route, I've used not-so Christmasy Collections image from The Stamping Queen. The words 'naughty' and 'nice' are from a dictionary, the paper is by Basic Grey, and I made the little clock from an old piece of jewellery, a Nostalgiques sticker and lots of coats of Plaid glass finish!

Eiffel

Lots of stuff going on here! Between creating pieces for Australian Paper Crafts and Stamping & Papercraft, samples for The Stamping Queen, and struggling with a bad case of artist's block, I haven't updated my poor blog for days! Sometimes when I can't think of anything to create, I pick a card from my box of rejects and rejuvenate it. It really helps to get the juices flowing :-) I made this card about 18 months ago. It need a new base and the surface ink needed fixing, but it spruced up okay, if I do say so myself.

Stamps - Inkadinkado
Ink - StazOn jet black, Distress vintage photo, assorted Versa Magic
Card - Canson
Paper - watercolour
Embellishments - Nostalgiques alphabet stickers, eyelets, gold wire
Other - sandpaper, eyelet setter, hammer

Spirit

This card is a sample for the new Designs Galore collage sheets at TSQ. I adore this image, especially the vibrant reds and pinks. In keeping with the colour scheme, I used a scrap of gold foil paper, rhinestones, an off-cut from a sheet of one of my credit-card papers, and a Collections circle word. The beaded piece is a vintage clip-on earring. I just removed the clip and stitched it to the card so it wouldn't fall off. Sometimes double-sided tape just doesn't cut it!

Paper - Penny Black
Card - Canson
Embellishments - Designs Galore collage image, Collections typewriter circle, Kaisercraft rhinestones, ribbon, brads, vintage beaded earring
Other - sandpaper, sewing needle and thread

Hugs

Here's another card for The Queen. I've used a super cute art doll by Catslife Press. I think this stamp is one of my absolute favourites. That face! Those little outstretched arms! There was no way I could not call this card "hugs" :-)

Stamp - Catslife Press
Ink - StazOn jet black
Paper - Cosmo Cricket
Card - Canson
Embellishments - Kaisercraft rhinestones, Pebbles Inc. alphabet stickers, button, ribbon, lace,
Other - Fiskars corner punch, pink embroidery thread, sewing needle, chalk

Think Pink

Here's a canvas I created just for a bit of fun, but after my Grandmother admired it I decided to put it aside for her birthday next month. I used Jo Sonja paint, Opals embossing enamel, an ARTchix tranparency, Hero Arts heart stamp, and various embellishments including found objects, old paper, ribbon, mesh and beads.

Eterne

I had a last minute request for a wedding card on Tuesday and here's what I threw together! Keeping in mind the design parameters - modern, fresh & simple - I used pretty patterned paper by My Mind's Eye, copper brads, silver rhinestones, ribbons, and a heart-shaped wood cut-out that I painted and distressed with sandpaper. Stamps by Stamp-It and Non Sequitur.

William

One of the reasons I've been a very bad blogger recently is this canvas. I've been toiling over it for some time now, but it's finally finished! After working on so many of Mum's photos, I thought I'd do an Ancestral Home canvas for Dad. For this particular piece, I've used a photo of his 'favourite' forebear, William. We're really very lucky to have a portrait of him. William was a Major in the British army when he came to Australia with his young family in 1837. Soon after arriving in the colony he was sent to Port Macquarie in NSW to oversee the penal settlement there. It's said that this painting was executed by a convict artist sometime in the 1840s...

Well, enough about the photo and onto the canvas! First I painted the raw panel in rich red tones and added texture paste around the edges to suggest a gilded frame. I then edited and printed the photo on gloss paper and distressed it carefully with black and brown ink. Next I layered the photo on hessian and patterned paper and added the embellishments - a rusty nail tied with sheer green ribbon, chain, beads, and a gorgeous old brass charm in the form of an English king (I suspect he's actually Scottish; oh dear, close enough!) Other elements include tiny gold rhinestones, beeswax, Dymo tape, Nostalgiques alphabet sticker, and a metal escutcheon (one of my market finds!). Another Christmas present done and dusted, LOL.

Wednesday Stamper - Moo Cards

I confess I'd never heard of Moo cards before reading about them on Wednesday Stamper! Of course I had to give them a go and here's what I came up with. The background is cream cardstock coloured with Versa Colour and Distress inks and the stamps are some of my favourite images by Acey Deucy. I think these little cards could become addictive! Thanks for looking :-)

Stamps - Acey Deucy (Stampington & Company)
Ink - StazOn, Versa Colour, Distress
Paper - Wild Asparagus
Card - Canson
Embellishments - Making Memories crystal brad, ribbon
